I’m a full-stack product engineer and product leader with 15 years experience designing & coding software in startup environments, and a two-time YC-technical-founder.
My focus is in applied AI and health—but I’ve also built a breadth of software across dev tools, productivity, social networking, messaging, marketplaces, and communication.
My YC companies were Crohnology and MessageParty.
I’ve built several Gen-AI apps: Play with ESC RLLM and Hero.Rodeo.
I lead product teams.
I help companies with product advising and tactical product engineering work. If you want to chat about how I can help your company, schedule a quick intro call.
I served as the VP of Product of DrChrono, a maker of med-tech software (PM/EHR) used by nearly 5,000 medical practices.
I built IBDPartners, the leading decentralized clinical research platform in IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease).
I co-founded Crohnology (YC 12), where I built the largest (in its time) Crohn’s & Colitis health-tracking community on the web.
I co-founded MessageParty (YC S10), where I built a mobile messaging app that allowed users to chat with those physically near them.
I built an AI Text-Based Adventure Game and an AI Superhero Generator powered by OpenAI’s GPT & DALL-E.
I built COVID-era software that enables organizers to host 1000+ participant virtual events over the phone.
I built a Google Docs Alternative for policy-writing, which uses votes to determine which edits go live.

A major theme of my work has been unleashing the power of personal health data.
In the mid-2010s, I had 5 minutes of fame on national TV covering my Crohn’s Disease self-experimentation, and was interviewed/covered in many podcasts, articles, and mini-documentaries. I’ve published in peer-reviewed medical journals. See this coverage and read the articles.
I gave a talk at the very first Quantified Self Conference in 2011 on my self-experimentation in Crohn’s Disease.
I am a big fan of Marty Cagan and Lenny’s Podcast for product frameworks.
I’ve learned a lot from Paul Graham and Steve Blank’s lessons on entrepreneurship.
